MACHANG: Some 31,790 chairmen and secretaries of the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKS) and Federal JKKKs (JKKKP) have been asked to come up with a development plan for their respective area.

Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said the federal government may not focus on the areas which fail to come out with the plan.

“The ministry will be implementing development projects under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) according to the submitted plans.

“JKKK and JKKKP chairmen also need to identify the needs of the community without being influenced by political parties sentiment,” he told reporters after opening the Malaysian Volunteer Programme here, yesterday.

A total of 1,200 students from Universiti Teknologi Mara’s (UiTM) Kelantan campus participated in community works to clean up the town of Machang and Tanah Merah.

Kelantan UiTM rector Assoc. Prof. Datuk Dr Hilmi Abdul Rahman also attended the programme. — Bernama
