Rural poor to benefit from latest HPK endeavour

KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching (HPK) will be holding its third ‘Charity Without Borders’ event from Dec 9 to 13 in Bintulu.

The charity event, which is supported by Bintulu 4×4 Club will collect food items to be donated to the rural hardcore poor in Baram and Bario.

HPK founder Kelvin Wan said that so far, 30 vehicles have registered to participate and an additional 40 more are needed to help the poor.

“Those participating should arrive in Bintulu by Dec 7, load food into their vehicles by Dec 8 and start the trip from Bintulu to Baram and Bario on Dec 9,” Wan explained.

The five-day four-night trip’s expenses will be paid for by the participants.

HPK hopes to collect 1,700 bags of rice weighing 10kg each, 1,700 packets of Milo beverage, salt, sugar (1kg), 1,700 bottles of cooking oil, 1,700 boxes of cookies, 1,700 boxes of noodles, 1,000 packets of oats, 50 boxes of milk
powder, 300 mattresses, 1,000 blankets, school uniforms and stationeries.
