SARIKEI: It was an emotional prize and award presentation ceremony for SK Udin, Bayong near here Thursday as headmaster Andrew Jumat Daha joined his Primary Six pupils to bid farewell to their school.
For Andrew, the ceremony was to be his last official function after having spent 37 years in the teaching profession.
He said when he started his teaching career in 1979, he was posted to SK Entaih, Julau where he served till 1988. He said it was a challenging start because he had to walk 10 hours to reach the school that was only accessible on foot.
In 1989, Andrew was transferred and promoted to become headmaster of SK Nanga Semah, Meradong and he was there till 1995.
Then he was transferred to SK Selidap, Meradong, but after hardly a year there he moved to SK Mador, Meradong and served till 2004.
From 2005 to 2009 he was at SK Ulu Stras and finally in 2010 he came to SK Udin till his retirement.
Earlier, Andrew presented prizes and certificates to the school pupils.
The school’s senior assistant Samaah Sepawi, parents-teachers association chairman Andrew Balan and committee members, and teachers were among those present at the function.
