PAPAR: A woman was killed while two others, including a toddler, escaped injuries after the Honda Civic car they were travelling in plunged into a drain along the Kimanis/Keningau Road yesterday morning.

Nida Fathin Ajis, 30, succumbed to her injuries at the scene while two of her family members escaped with only injuries in the 10.50am incident.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Public Relations chief, Khatizah Rahaban said the Papar Fire and Rescue station received a distress call at 10.55am and immediately sent a team to the scene, which was some 20 kilometres away.

“Two of the victims were pinned at their respective seats and it took Fire and Rescue personnel about half an hour to free them.

“However, one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and we have handed the body to the police for further action,” she said, adding that the operation ended around 11.50am.
