SIBU: The kampua of Salina Abdullah, 50, is catching the attention of many patrons of the Ramadan bazaar in front of the Sanyan Building here.

Salina has been operating a food stall for over 10 years, but is vending her signature kampua dish for the very first time at Ramadan bazaar this year.

“I just helped my friends run their stalls at the Ramadan bazaar each year, but this time, I run a stall to sell my own kampua,” she said.

Her kampua is a hit at the bazaar. By 6pm on Tuesday, it was a sold-out.

Salina learned to cook kampua by observing how others did it.

“I like to cook and I used to observe how people cook,” said the mother-of-five who was a housewife before she took up food stall business some 10 years ago.

“It’s a dream comes true. In earlier years I had to take care of my children.”

Salina said she had never allowed her children to eat outside when they were small.

“Why would I want to let them eat outside when I can cook for them?”

Salina is currently operating a food stall at Yalin Café selling fried noodles, mee sua, rice and so on. During this fasting month, she operates her food stall at Yalin Café from morning till 2pm, then proceeds to sell her kampua at the Ramadan bazaar.
