KENINGAU: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan has recommended to the government to blacklist contractors who failed to complete their projects on schedule.

He said this would serve as a lesson to other contractors to ensure they do not do the same thing, as people expected projects to be completed on schedule.

“I am sad and disappointed with the contractor who has failed to complete this Keningau Native Court building,” he told reporters after visiting the project here yesterday.

He said the contractor had failed to complete the project on schedule and the project had been neglected for over a year.

Pairin was clearly displeased when visiting the project site yesterday as the contractor and his workers were not there.

He said the delay in the project had already been discussed by the higher authority and he expressed hope that the newly-appointed contractor could complete the project.

Pairin, who is also Infrastructure Development Minister and member of parliament for Keningau had earlier attended and laid a wreath at the Second World War Memorial in Keningau together with heads of government departments, leaders of non-governmental organizations, members of the security, community leaders and students.

Pairin also visited and presented contribution to Thomas Sikin, whose house at Kampung Linsosod here was destroyed by fire.

Accompanying him during the visit were the Ministry of Infrastructure Development political secretaries Welfredoline Jakil and Stanis Baundi, Liawan Community Development Leader Sahanip Jamil, Keningau parliamentary liaison officer Augustine Nain, District Chief OKK Majabin Dalinus and  government officials and community leaders.
