Unbeaten Tigers rule EBL Kuching Circuit

KUCHING: Lord Tigers stamped their supremacy in the Kuching Circuit of the 2nd Yuwang East Malaysia Basketball League (EBL) by winning their third consecutive game at the MBKS Indoor Stadium in Pending last Sunday.

The home team stayed unbeaten after they thumped debutants Brunei Beruang Blazers 107-76 to top the standings with six points from three games.

Tigers, led by Yiek Chai Teck, displayed tremendous firepower in the first quarter as he scored 11 points for a 31-24 lead. It was former national cager Chai Chze Hian’s turn to star in the second quarter as he sunk five three-pointers to add 15 points to his personal tally and put the Tigers further ahead 61-35.

The Bears were unable to put down the Tigers rampage who led by as much as 38 points (93-55) before rounding up their victory by a 31-point margin.

Hot shot Chai top scored with 20 points including six three-pointers for the Tigers while Yiek contributed 17 points and four steals. Filipino imports Bobby Juandale Bulacanag and Jessie James Bulaon Collado had 15 points and 17 points respectively.

As for the Bears, Lyndon Sayson Gudez had a team high of 20 points while Singapore import Delvin Goh grabbed 11 rebounds with six points and Zainul Hussin scored 10 points to go with two rebounds.

The other match saw Labuan Wasps ending their two-game losing streak as they stung the Kota Kinabalu Eagles 79-75 for their only win in the circuit.

Despite the defeat, the Eagles finished second in the table standings with four points from one win and two defeats while the Wasps were third on four points with an inferior points difference compared to the Eagles.

Beruang Blazers also had a win and two defeats for four points but had an inferior points difference.
