Sports workshops to prepare athletes, coaches for Sukma

KUCHING: The Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) and Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) jointly organised the Sports Psychology and Basic Sports Massage Workshops at the Institute of Teacher Education Campus Tun Abdul Razak (IPGKTAR) Samarahan from April 24 to 26.

The workshops organised as part of the on-going series of sports science preparation on state coaches and athletes for Sukma XIX in Perak next year.

The sports psychology workshops and biofeedback analysis were conducted by Dr Garry Kuan, Dr Chin Ngien Siong and Dr Balbir Singh.

They were facilitated by Lim Ting Len (SK Ulu Yong Kapit) and Peggy Ting (IPGKTAR).

The Essential Sarawakian Mental Skills Training book was used as a sports psychology module in training the coaches and athletes the mental skills in a systematic ‘workbook’ approach.

In addition, a sports massage workshop was conducted by Assoc Prof Dr Lee Ai Choo (UPSI) for the state coaches under the National Coaching Academy of Malaysia, SSC and MSNS from April 26-27.

MSNS official Jubali Suhaili said the sports science programmes are progressing smoothly in accordance to Sukma 2018 plan.
