KUCHING: An Indonesian construction worker succumbed to his injuries in a freak accident at a construction site at Mile 13, off Jalan Kuching-Serian here yesterday.
The victim Mahenda Lehan, 42, died while receiving treatment at the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan.
Padawan district police chief DSP Aidil Bolhassan, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was pronounced dead at 11am following the incident, which happened around 9.15am.
It is understood that the deceased had been struck in the chest by a piling crane, and had been rushed to the hospital by a site supervisor.
The incident has been classified as sudden death pending a post-mortem report.
