SIBU: Sibu Division Archery Association (SDAA), in collaboration with RH Recreation Club, has set up an archery shooting range at Jalan Lanang, near Menara RH.

According to its secretary Eric Tiong, the range – 20m by 100m wide – will be open to members of the public soon for shooting practice.

“The shooting range is ready for use except for the nourishing of the grasses which will take about one or two month’s time to complete,’ he said.

Tiong disclosed this during the Sdaa annual general meeting held at RH Hotel yesterday afternoon.

SDAA will impose a nominal monthly charge for members and non-members which will be used to maintain the lawn and accessories.

Tiong added that the fee structure will be finalised once the range is fully completed and ready for use.

Recently, SMC Recreation Club had also proposed setting up an archery range at the vacant space in front of Delta Swimming Pool.

Last year, the Sibu Archery Centre was opened at Jalan Wong King Huo for members of the public.

This completion of the Delta Estate and Menara RH ranges means Sibu will have three centres soon to cater to the interest of local archers.

Meanwhile, Tiong Kiong King was unanimously re-appointed as president of SDAA. The newly appointed deputy president is Kong Ham Khim while the two vice presidents are Ronald Tiong and Nurul Ain Ling Abdullah.

Tiong retained the secretary post, assisted by Shamsuddin Narawi.

The treasurer post went to Ting Chang Seng while Ayub Sabi takes up the Development Office portfolio.

The five committee members are Eric Chong, Achmaed CkhalifhAlamien, Kho Say Wei, Wan Andy and Kong Nguk Siong.
