SMK St Anthony PTA raises RM93,000

SARIKEI: A total of RM93,000 was raised through a jogathon organised by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SMK St Anthony here yesterday.

The amount was raised by some 700 participants comprising students, parents and teachers of the school.

School principal Vincent Liong raised the highest amount of RM3,000  in the individual category followed by Clerance Lau (RM2,500), Lau Chuan Dee (RM2,018), Leobinus Ting (RM674) and Serena Ling Ee Jia (RM601).

They each received electrical items as prizes.

Meanwhile, Form 1A was the top class contributor with RM3,102, followed by Form 4S3 (RM2,999), Form 3A (RM2,713.70) and Form 2A (RM2,534.10). Each class received hampers as prizes.

The jogathon was divided into eight categories – Men and Women Open; Form 5 and 6 Boys and Girls; Form 3 and 4 Boys and Girls; and Transition, Form 1 and 2 Boys and Girls.

Sarikei MP Andrew Wong Ling Biu flagged off the 2km event and donated RM1,000 to the organising committee.

In his speech during the prize presentation ceremony, Liong attributed the success of the event to close cooperation amongst the teachers, students and parents as well as strong support rendered by the elected representatives and the local community.

He hoped for continuous cooperation and support from all parties to ensure the school’s consistent excellent performances.

Also present during the prize presentation ceremony was PTA chairperson Maureen Chua.
