Pillon-rider killed after hit by express bus in Tuaran Bypass

The pillion rider of the Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle was killed at the scene along Tuaran Bypass, near Masjid Aminuddin Baki, Tobobon. 

KOTA KINABALU: A pillion rider of a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle was died after he was hit by an express bus along Tuaran Bypass, near Aminuddin Baki Mosque in Tobobon.

Adshar Sabree, 19, from Kampung Likas succumbed to severe head and body injuries when he knocked the tyre of the express bus after falling off from the motorcycle.

City police chief ACP Habibi Majinji said the motorcycle rider who was also injured in the 12pm incident is currently being warded at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“Police investigation revealed the motorcycle was tailing a lorry from Tuaran heading to Menggatal.

“Police believed the motorcycle tried to overtake the lorry but knocked the right back side of a truck.

“Both men fell off from the motorcycle to the opposite lane and one of the victim knocked the rear tyre of the express bus that was on the right hand lane,” said Habibi.

Adshar was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics while his friend and motorcycle rider, identify as Roy Bakri suffered head injury.

Police have detained both drivers to facilitate investigation.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
