KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit has reminded grant recipients to use the funds accordingly and compile a proper expenditure report.

Speaking at a ceremony recently where he presented 22 local bodies with a total of RM225,000 in grants, Jamit said the reports are necessary as the money received by the recipients are government funds.

“The money is for you to carry out activities for the benefit of your members and the community at-large.

“Please remember to compile a proper report on how the money is spent, as it is a requirement when it comes to government funds,” he said.

The funds are part of Jamit’s minor rural project (MRP) allocation, with the amount received by each recipient based on their request. The recipients comprised village security and development committees (JKKKs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) welfare and sports associations, parent-teacher associations (PTAs), church committees and social clubs.

Jamit, meanwhile, said as an elected representative, he will continue to seek ways to assist his constituents, whether through MRP grants or other methods.

Among those present at the ceremony included Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Kapit branch chairman Joseph Jinggut, Armed Forces Veterans Association Kapit branch chairman Martin Bilun, and Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) Kapit branch chairman Edward Manggah.
