SARATOK: The search-and-recover (SAR) operation continues for a 26-year-old local man, who is said to have gone missing since Tuesday.

According to Saratok Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Nazry Mohamat, the mission would focus on areas surrounding a section of a riverbank in Nanga Budu, Krian near here, where villagers found a cap and slippers, believed to belong to the missing man, yesterday afternoon.

“The said riverbank is about 12km from the man’s longhouse, Rumah Rosita Dugat.

“With the items being the most recent clues, the SAR team is concentrating its search over the areas downstream,” he said when contacted.

It is learnt that the SAR operation had only commenced yesterday morning as the Bomba received the information from police around 5.30pm on Thursday.

It is also informed that the mother of the missing man lodged a report at Saratok police station around 11.30am on Thursday, telling them that her son had not returned home since the morning of Feb 5.

The SAR operation was called off at nightfall yesterday and would resume early today.
