Miri Port Authority overall champs in ERT drill efficiency competition

MIRI: The emergency response team (ERT) of Miri Port Authority emerged overall champion in the Miri Division ERT Drill Efficiency Competition held at Lopeng Fire Station here on Sunday.

The team placed first in the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Auxiliary/Volunteers and Bomba Komuniti category, while its member Adam Harith Abdullah was named best male participant.

Miri Crude Oil Terminal (MCOT) was first runner-up followed by Batu Niah Bomba Volunteers in third.

In the government/private agency category, Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club placed first followed by Imperial Mall and SKO Carigali in second and third, respectively.

The oil palm estate category saw Niah Palm Oil Mill emerge tops while RSB Palm Oil Mill placed second and Alam Bumi Palm Oil Mill, third.

Goh Joh Shien from MCOT was named best female participant.

A total of 87 teams competed in 12 categories during the two-day competition, held in conjunction with Fire Safety Organisation Strengthening Drill Efficiency Training cum Miri Zone 6 Bomba Volunteers and Bomba Komunity Convention 2019.

Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) also took part in the competition, where its member Choa Yee Hui placed third in the Women’s Open category.

Miri MP Dr Michael Teo presented prizes to the winners, witnessed by Bomba Sarawak director Khirudin Drahman and Bomba Miri chief Law Poh Kiong.
