CM: No Cabinet shuffle

BUBUR LAMBUK: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (centre) yesterday gave out bubur lambuk to people from all walks of life at the Kota Kinabalu City Hall compound. Maggi, which has sponsored similar events for six years in districts throughout Sabah, prepared 1,000 bowls of the traditional porridge for distribution in Kota Kinabalu. The company will also distribute porridge in Beaufort, Labuan, Tawau, Tuaran and Keningau.

KOTA KINABALU: There will not be any state cabinet reshuffle when the new state Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister is appointed, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal yesterday.

The post fell vacant following the demise of DAP Sabah chairman Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt.

Shafie said he would duly make an announcement on the successor of Wong, expected today.

“I will make the necessary announcement by tomorrow (Friday), if possible,” he told reporters after visiting the Ramadan bazaar at Lintasan Deasoka here yesterday.

Youth and Sports Minister Frankie Poon, who is Sabah DAP deputy chief, has been doubling as the minister in charge of the Health and People’s Wellbeing Ministry.

DAP Sabah secretary Chan Foong Hin said that the party had submitted its recommendation for the State Cabinet post.

Chan said the vacant position should be replaced with an existing DAP assemblyman.

DAP assemblyman in Sabah include Poon (Sri Tanjong), Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Jimmy Wong (Sri Tanjong), Assistant Minister of Law and Native Affairs Jannie Lasimbang (Kapayan), Phoong Jin Zhe (Luyang), Calvin Chong Ket Kiun (Elopura) and Tan Lee Fatt (Likas).
