MIRI: Tasha Jenkins Likan Siti, Sharon Ubung Yong Fui Choo and Lydia Hyginus were crowned the divisional ‘Kumang’ of the Ibans, the ‘Keligit’ of the Orang Ulus and the ‘Dayung Sangon’ of the Bidayuhs, respectively, at the pageant finale during the division-level Gawai Dayak Dinner 2019 in Meritz Hotel here on Saturday.
Apart from the crown, sash and bouquet, each winner took home RM1,200, a trophy, a certificate, and a hamper.
Natasha Shareen Pita and Nicole Goldy were the respective first and second runners-up in the Kumang category, while Magdeline Story and Cendida Gadung were the runners-up in the Keligit category.
In the Dayung Sagon category, second and third place went to Jemma Fae James and Anastasia Napoleon, respectively.
Each first runner-up received RM900, while the second runner-up was given RM700.
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Paang Jalong emerged winner of the Keling/Belawan category – the male version of the pageant.
Runners-up were Nicholas Kudi and Eliazer Puret El Loter.
Emmanuel pocketed RM1,000, while Nicholas and Eliazer received RM800 and RM700, respectively.
They also received trophies, hampers and certificates.
Each of the top three contestants from all four categories also received a scholarship from Fajar International College.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Senator Dr Nuing Jeluing, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Mulu assemblyman Dato Gerawat Gala, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang, Miri Mayor Adam Yii and event organising charwoman Datin Catherine Awing, were present at the event.
