KUCHING: Successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs are called upon to take part in the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Excellence Award (AUBS) 2019.

Assistant Minister of E-Commerce Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said he hopes to see more successful Bumiputera entrepreneurs join the awards ceremony, and called on business-oriented non-governmental organisations such as Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Sarawak Bumiputera Chamber of Entrepreneurs (DUBS) and others to get their members to participate.

The event is organised by the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, DUBS and Idris Ibrahim & Co Group of Companies. Registration is open now until Aug 30.

“The AUBS 2019 is to acknowledge successful and excellent Bumiputera entrepreneurs who have contributed immensely towards the economy of the state, besides motivating other entrepreneurs to become successful,” he told reporters here yesterday, when announcing the event.

Mohd Naroden said the awards presentation ceremony will be held on Oct 27 at Riverside Majestic Hotel, to be graced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Details for the award can be obtained from DUBS Commercial Centre, Lot 376, Section 54, Jln Petanak here, or by calling 082-233133 or 082-247166, or emailing [email protected].

Mohd Naroden, who is also Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small-Medium Enterprise (SME) Development, also said the winner of the award will represent Bumiputera entrepreneurs in the Sarawak Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, as well as at national and international-level award ceremonies.

He added that SMEs form the bulk of registered companies in Sarawak, with the state recording an annual
average growth of over 500 SMEs.

“There were 43,800 companies registered with SME Corp in 2011, increasing to 62,000 last year. Of this total, 98.5 per cent are SMEs,” he said.

Present at the press conference with Mohd Naroden was DUBS president Datu Abang Helmi Ikhwan.
