Hadi Awang’s meeting with Abang Johari an unholy union — Chong

KUCHING: PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang’s courtesy call on the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, was described by DAP Sarawak as an unholy union of PAS, Umno and PBB to topple the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government using racial politics.

Hadi and his PAS delegation had met up with Abang Johari to discuss the cooperation of PAS and PBB, said DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen in a press statement yesterday.

Though Hadi has openly claimed that PAS is working with GPS as a whole, the truth is that, it is only PBB that PAS is interested in, in working together, claimed the Kota Sentosa assemblyman.

To PAS, all the other GPS component parties like PRS, PDP and SUPP are irrelevant because these subsidiary GPS parties only take instruction from PBB, he added.

In the past, he claimed, the Sarawak government had resorted to banning the entry of PH leaders into Sarawak despite the fact that those PH leaders were merely advocating against corruption.

“But now, we have PAS leaders coming to Sarawak advocating racial politics and instigating hatred against the Chinese and spreading racial discord,” he added.

“Yet, the GPS state government welcomes these PAS leaders with open arms.”

Chong said a day earlier on Sept 16 (Malaysia Day), Hadi openly resorted to hate speech about DAP wanting the Chinese to control Sarawak.

“Such racist statement is totally untrue and has no place in Sarawak,” said Chong, the Bandar Kuching MP.

Chong, also Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, said:  “It is such statement that has brought about the racial tension in Peninsular Malaysia and now Hadi Awang is bringing his PAS brand of racial politics to Sarawak.”

With Hadi Awang making such racist statement in Sarawak, the state government should immediately exercise its immigration autonomy to escort him out of Sarawak and never to have him enter Sarawak again.

“Yet, to the dismay and great disappointment of many Sarawakians, instead of banning Hadi Awang from entering Sarawak, Abang Johari is now working together with PAS.”

When PH leaders could be banned from entering Sarawak just because they were advocating against corruption, it is puzzling that PAS leaders are allowed to enter Sarawak propagating racial hatred, he pointed out.

“It is thus obvious that the GPS only exercises its immigration autonomy to protect its political power and not to protect Sarawak from these socially destructive elements,” he added.
