SIBU: Police have arrested a 31-year-old mechanic for allegedly raping his girlfriend’s 12-year-old daughter, who is now two months pregnant.

Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the incident came to light on Tuesday (Oct 22), when the victim’s mother and aunt brought her to a government clinic as she had missed her period.

“The girl was then referred to Sibu Hospital. Further examination will be done by a gynaecologist today (yesterday),” he said in a statement yesterday.

A police report was later lodged by the victim’s aunt.  Stanley said the victim had been living with her mother, elder sister, and the suspect in a village here.

“She was then invited by her aunt to stay with her after the victim’s mother told her aunt that she had lost her appetite recently.

“The victim claimed that she was raped five times by the suspect starting May until
July.”

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for statutory rape,” he added.
