LIMBANG: All rural folks in the Bukit Kota constituency, except those in Kampung Limpaku Pinang and Kampung Bulantak, enjoy basic facilities and infrastructure.

However, Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail assured that the government will relentlessly make every effort to expand the coverage of infrastructure and amenities in the state.

“The state government is committed to develop rural areas that are lagging behind in basic facilities and infrastructure,” he said at the recent presentation of educational incentives to 19 students, organised by the Limbang Malay Association (PML) at Kampung Bunga Raya.

Present were Dr Abdul Rahman’s wife Datin Dayang Maimunah Awang Mohamad Daud, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah and PML chairman Mohamad Abu Bakar.

Dr Abdul Rahman, who is Bukit Kota assemblyman, said besides roads and basic amenities, the rural people were also provided with utilities like electricity and water supply.

He added that road connectivity in Sarawak would be improved through the Pan Borneo Highway, which is currently built through the federal government allocation, and the coastal road financed by the state government.

“When the Pan Borneo Highway Project phase two to Limbang and Lawas was cancelled, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg agreed for the state to build a portion of the highway connecting the second bridge at Limbang river which is under construction to the new border post in Pendam, Limbang and Lumapas in Brunei,” he added.
