SIBU: The Academy of Sarawak Dayak Iban (Asadia) has stopped all of its Dayak arts and cultural classes to obey the Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced from March 18 until 31.
Asadia head Mabong Unggang said that all ongoing classes held at different locations in Kuching had been stopped starting last week.
“Our training session to prepare for Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2020 performance has also stopped following the postponement of the event,” he said in a statement via Whatsapp today.
Mabong lamented that they had to bear certain amount of losses such as the payment for costume rental planned for their RWMF 2020 performance.
RWMF was scheduled from July 10-12 but its organiser Sarawak Tourism Board postponed the event until further notice amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
He added that Asadia had even done promotional shooting for the event.
Asadia was formed in 2013 but only started Dayak traditional arts and culture classes in 2014 in Kuching.
