KUCHING: Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has once again called upon all talented young Sarawakians to apply for capital under the Sarawak Youth Creative Industry Fund.
According to him, the Sarawak government has set aside an allocation of RM9 million, slated for youths who want to venture into the creative industry.

“Talented youths in Sarawak can apply for this fund to pursue their interest in the fields of arts and culture,” said Abdul Karim, who is also Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, in his opening remarks for the ‘Youth Roadshow Programme’ at SMK Balai Ringin yesterday.
He said the fund could be utilised for exposure purposes, development and expansion of value-based network of music, theatres, as well as creativity and innovation areas covering arts and designs, video production, video games, animations, film and cinematography.
Earlier, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan said any information pertaining to government’s policies that the youths gathered from the townhall session with the minister should be shared with their respective communities.
He said the youths should also let their thoughts and aspirations be heard by the government of the day so that necessary actions could be implemented for their benefits.
This, he said, could be highlighted during the townhall session.
“The government acknowledges that the youths are very important assets of the country and the government wants to hear your aspirations because you are also the future leaders of the country, who will be heading the government’s departments or private or corporate organisations,” he said.
Snowdan, who is Balai Ringin assemblyman, also believed that today’s youths could excel towards greater heights, if they were ‘literate’ in the latest information technology.
On the ‘Youth Roadshow’, he viewed it as a great opportunity for the youths not only to interact with the minister, but also to meet the youth icons featured in programme and know more about their life experiences.
