KOTA BHARU:  All component parties in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, especially Barisan Nasional (BN) has decided to enhance solidarity and consensus in support of the present government, said BN secretary-general, Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

According to him, this means that it also includes supporting all bills submitted by the PN government such as new supply laws or budgets.

“In this regard, I would like to call on the BN component parties to support what has been declared by the Supreme Council as stated in the media statement signed by Umno president and BN chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“It is very important at this time we maintain cohesion and solidarity in PN, Muafakat Nasional and adhere to what has been declared by the president because what was announced was the result of the Supreme Council Meeting,” he told reporters after officiating the Umno Ketereh Division Meeting at the Yayasan Kemiskinan Kelantan Complex here yesterday.

Annuar, who is also the Federal Territories Minister said all matters of policy have been discussed in the meeting and have been explained in a written statement that Umno and BN support all government efforts, including supporting all bills, motions and budgets submitted by the government.

“We 43 BN Members of Parliament have been instructed by the chief whip to give undivided support and unanimously back all government efforts.

“However, we can give recommendations, express views and make remarks on anything that is presented. But the views must be guided by facts and not on ‘hearsay’ so that our remarks and views are more effective and can help the government,” he said.
