Army personnel setting up barbed wire in Kg Likas after the area was placed under EMCO.

KOTA KINABALU: Residents in Kampung Likas are barred from leaving their home as the area is placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from June 10 until June 23.

The decision was made by the Health Department after 22 Covid-19 cases were detected there earlier this week.

Among the areas that are placed under the 14-day EMCO are Kg Cempaka, Rumah Murah Peringkat 1, 2 and 3, Kg Cenderamata 1 and 2, Taman Kemajuan, Kg Nelayan, Kg Bakau, and Kuroh Melangi.

A check by The Borneo Post on Thursday saw personnel from the Lok Kawi army camp setting up barbed wire at road junctions within Kg Likas, while police and Rela personnel were on duty at all entry and exit points to prevent residents and outsiders from entering or leaving the area without any authorisation.
