KUALA LUMPUR (June 29): The following is a denial of a viral news item on social media by related agencies, issued through the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) Quick Response Team.

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has denied that it had given approval to the licensed gambling operators to resume operations on June 30 as stated in a letter circulated on WhatsApp.

The MOF has clarified that it did not issue the letter allegedly dated June 25, and instead said that all licensed gambling operators have been instructed to close their operations until a date to be announced later.

The MOF also stressed that no approval had been given to licensed gambling operators to operate during phase one of movement control under the National Recovery Plan. – Bernama
