Factory workers compounded for violating SOP.

KOTA KINABALU: Three factories and 12 workers were compounded for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) during an Ops Patuh operation in the state capital.

Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said the operation was conducted together with City Hall, Health Ministry and the People’s Volunteer Corps at 10 factories in Manggatal and Inanam on Saturday.

“Three factories were fined for operating without the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s approval letter, while 12 factory workers were compounded for violating SOP,” he said during the inspection at one of the factories.

Mohd Zaidi said among the factories that were inspected were in the iron industry, plastic productions, beverage and polystyrene.

He added that the three factories that were fined claimed to be unaware of the SOP.

He said the Ops Patuh will continue from time to time until enforcement involving Covid-19 is complete.
The large-scale enforcement of Ops Patuh took effect on July 1 that was announced by Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The operation involved 12 agencies under 21 ministries to ensure compliance with the  SOP of phase one of Movement Control under the National Recovery Plan.

The police together with local authorities will conduct spot checks at certain locations, including factories, workplaces and business premises to lower the Covid-19 cases in the country.
