KUCHING (July 28): The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Sri Aman branch has recently taken action against a supermarket after the premises was found to have sold 17 packets of subsidised cooking oil to a single customer.
KPDNHEP Sri Aman enforcement head Al Redzamani Abdul Razak said the premises were checked by undercover personnel following feedback they had received from consumers.
“After the premises workers claimed that they had no stocks of subsidised cooking oil available, further checks revealed a single receipt dated July 26 which showed a single transaction of 17 packets of 1kg subsidised cooking oil,” said Al Redzamani.
He added that the limit for a customer to purchase subsidised cooking oil is fixed at three packets of 1kg subsidised cooking oil per transaction.
Seized during the raid were the sales receipt together with the premises’ Controlled Goods Licence (CSA) and the supplier’s invoice.
“We will continue similar operations in Sri Aman and Betong to ensure that all households will be able to purchase the subsidised cooking oil,” he added.
He also said premises are tasked to ensure that each customer can only buy three packets of the subsidised cooking oil, failing which strict action will be taken against them.
He added that legal action can be taken under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 (Act 122).
