BINTULU (Aug 22): Three more sectors with potential collaboration between the state government and Petronas have been identified, said Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Without revealing what the three areas are, as it is still in the discussion stage, Abang Johari said the three sectors will transform Sarawak and Malaysia into a high-income economy.

“We will be able to contribute our part in the carbon emission issue, with this new technology which I feel is also indigenous to Malaysia, and we can position ourselves in a global position as far as oil and gas as well as energy are concerned.

“As we are talking today, South India is having problems (such as) floods and certain areas in Europe, drought, meaning climate change is an issue,” he said when officiating the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bintulu Additional Gas Sales Facility in Tanjung Kidurong here today.

He believed with the collaboration, Sarawak and Malaysia can contribute their part towards controlling the emission of carbon at the same time to using the latest technology in terms of energy supply.

Abang Johari said recently he had visited the Petronas research plant in Bintulu and believed the future is bright between Petronas and Sarawak government in producing aviation fuel.
