Woman’s thigh impaled on garden fork after snake-catching attempt goes awry at Bintulu longhouse

SIBU (March 24): A woman in Bintulu had a horrifyingly painful experience  early this morning when her thigh became impaled on a garden fork.

It is understood that the 20-year-old was visiting her friend’s longhouse when they spotted a snake.

However, the attempt to catch the reptile with a metal garden fork went wrong and the woman ended up with the tool embedded in her thigh.

She was transported to Bintulu Hospital for treatment.

In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a call for help from the hospital at 1.37am today.

Eight firefighters were sent to the hospital to assist medical personnel.

“When the firefighters arrived at the scene, it was found that there was a woman whose right thigh was impaled,” said the department.

Bomba said firefighters used a special ring utter to cut the garden fork until it was fully removed.

The victim is undergoing further observation and treatment at Bintulu Hospital.
