KUCHING (April 15): The search is ongoing for a seven-year-old boy with autism, who is currently missing, at Kampung Bunga Rampai Batu Kitang-Bau, said the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

It said in a statement that the victim, identified as Andrine Johnnes Anne, was reported missing at 9.13pm on Friday.

“The victim was realised to be missing at 2.30pm by his family members,” it said.

It is believed the victim had snuck out from his house through the back door, which leads to a nearby jungle.

Bomba said a witness claimed that the victim was bare-footed and was wearing a red T-shirt and diapers when last seen.

“Efforts to locate the victim was carried out by his family members and villagers within a 2 kilometre radius from the house,” it said.

A search and rescue operation was immediately carried out last night and involved rescuers from the Bau fire station as well as the police.

The search was conducted near the victim’s house and was postponed at 10.40pm after no clues were found.
