KUCHING (April 16): Potential areas for collaboration were highlighted during a meeting between the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sarawak (ACCCIS) and Enterprise Singapore, held in the island republic recently.

The courtesy call by ACCCIS was led by its president Datuk Tan Jit Kee, who is also the president of Kuching Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCGCCI).

“The potential collaboration between ACCCIS and Enterprise Singapore, and also the potential areas for collaboration between Sarawak and Singapore, were among the issues discussed during the meeting on Wednesday (April 12),” said a press statement issued by ACCCIS yesterday.

The Sarawak delegation comprised ACCCIS secretary-general Datuk Jonathan Chai and its chairman for digital economy Rodger Chan.

They were welcomed by Enterprise Singapore chairman Peter Ong.

During the meeting, Tan presented an introduction on KCGCCI and ACCCIS, as well as on Sarawak’s economy.

He also took the opportunity to extend to Ong and Enterprise Singapore the invitations to the KCGCCI’s 133rd Anniversary Gala Dinner and 77th Annual General Meeting of Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Malaysia (ACCCIM), which would be held here this July 7 and 8.

Enterprise Singapore is a statutory board under the Singapore Government’s Ministry of Trade and Industry, which was formed to champion Singapore’s enterprise development towards becoming more innovative and global.

Apart from supporting the growth of Singapore as a hub for global trading, Enterprise Singapore also supports start-ups and helps Singapore companies to venture outside of the republic, including Sarawak.
