SUPP sec-gen: Taib laid foundation for stable S’wak govt

Ting said Taib performed outstanding services and made huge contributions to the country.

MIRI (Feb 21): The late Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud was a political giant of his generation who laid the foundation of stable government and harmony among all ethnic groups in Sarawak, said Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Paying tribute to Taib’s contribution to the economic, education and political development of the state, the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) secretary-general said the party is shocked and saddened by the passing of the former head of state.

“SUPP appreciated the late Tun Pehin Sri Taib’s great contribution to the economic, education and political development of Sarawak,” he said.

The former Sarawak chief minister has led his party, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB),  with Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) to form a stable government, consolidating the unity and harmony of the people of all ethnic groups in Sarawak and laying the foundation for today’s harmonious Sarawak, he added.

“He performed outstanding services and made huge contributions to the country,” said Ting.

Taib passed away at the age 87 at a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur at around 4.40am this morning.
