KUCHING (May 24): Several state museum departments including the Sarawak Museum Department recently participated in the 28th edition of the national-level International Museum Day Festival (HMA) in George Town, Penang.
Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was invited to the event’s opening ceremony, officially launched by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
According to a press release, the event being held at Dewan Sri Pinang showcased exhibitions by participating state museum departments and garnered much praise from the visitors, and art and cultural enthusiasts alike.
Among the local dignitaries who visited Sarawak’s booth were Deputy Minister for National Unity Senator Saraswathy Kandasami and Penang’s Exco for Tourism and Creative Economy Wong Hon Hai.
Also present were permanent secretary to the Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Ministry Datu Sherrina Hussain and Sarawak Museum Department director Nancy Jolhi.
