KUCHING (Nov 25): A 46-year-old man was apprehended in Jalan Stampin here on Sunday for alleged break-in and theft at a shop in Tabuan Jaya.
Kuching district acting police chief Supt Merbin Lisa in a statement said the suspect was nabbed at a premises in Taman BDC, Jalan Stampin here.
The incident caused losses amounting to approximately RM14,000.
“Items seized from the suspect include a crossbody bag, a screwdriver, a phone, an Allen key, a plier, a key with remote, a pair of black shorts, a car key, two laptops and three CCTV units.
“Other items seized from the suspect include a graphics card, a Green Light laser toolbox set, a backpack, another toolbox containing various tools and a hatchback believed to be used by the suspect during the incident,” he said.
Merbin said further checks revealed the vehicle was reported stolen in Taman Satria on Nov 9.
Urine tests found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, and possessed six prior records involving drug and property-related crimes.
“Preliminary questioning revealed the suspect was involved in three shop break-in cases.
“The suspect is currently under remand for seven days for further investigation into other shop break-in cases in Kuching under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 14 years, a fine, or caning,” he added.
