KUCHING (Dec 5): A 16-year-old boy claimed trial in the Magistrates’ Court here today to two charges of rape.
The teenager pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan, who released him on RM6,000 bail with one local surety for the two charges.
The court also fixed Feb 2, 2025 for pre-trial case management.
According to the charges, the boy is accused of two counts of rape under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 20 years and possible caning.
He allegedly committed the offences in a Petra Jaya flat in September and October this year.
The victim, who is the boy’s girlfriend, had filed a police report alleging that she was unable to tolerate his coercive behaviour.
In the report, she claimed he had forced her to have sex.
Insp Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin handled the prosecution while the boy was unrepresented by legal counsel.
