KUCHING (Dec 24): Four students from Russell, Randell & Cindy Dance Company will compete in the WDSF French Open in Lyon, France on Feb 15-16 next year.
The dancers who will compete at the World DanceSport Federation event are Cordelia Wee, Eunice Ling, Erin Ung, and Arabelle Leah Pei.
This was announced during the company’s dinner and dance on Saturday, when students put on a spectacular show.
Dancers from young to older age groups displayed energy, enthusiasm, good stage presence, and well-honed techniques to put on a polished well-coordinated performance.
Dance studio senior partner Russell Lim thanked all key stakeholders and supporters especially Sabah DanceSport Association officials led by president John Chong Nyuk Chin and Sarawak DanceSport Association president Chester Lim, vice president Dr Victor Bong, as well as secretary Jenny Lim.
He noted students Amy Kho, Cordelia, Eunice, Valery Chung, Erin, and Arabelle won their respective categories at WDSF competitions in Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor.
Russell urged younger students to emulate these outstanding achievements to keep the Sarawak flag flying high.
Two special awards were presented to dance teachers and partners Russell, Randell Lim, and Cindy Chung, as well as dancesport teacher John and ballet teacher Chan Lay Na.
Tokens of appreciation were also presented to Chester and Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts deputy permanent secretary Dr Elena Chai.
