KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 26): Eur Ing Ts. Hong Wai Onn, a distinguished chartered chemical engineer and environmentalist, has been honoured in the sixth edition of Britishpedia’s Biographical Encyclopaedia: Successful People in Malaysia and Singapore.
This recognition underscores his contributions to Malaysia’s engineering and sustainability sectors, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader and innovator.
Britishpedia, renowned for documenting exceptional individuals across diverse fields, celebrates Hong’s extensive accomplishments, particularly in chemical engineering and sustainable development.
With nearly two decades of professional experience, Hong has played pivotal roles in production, engineering, process safety, and biotechnology, focusing on innovative solutions within the palm oil milling industry—a cornerstone of Malaysia’s economy.
As a two-time Malaysia Book of Records holder, Hong is no stranger to making history. His book, ‘A Chemical Engineer in the Palm Oil Milling Industry’, provides a unique perspective on the opportunities within the sector. This publication serves as both a guide and inspiration for professionals and aspiring engineers aiming to make a difference in the palm oil industry.
In addition, he holds the distinction of being the first Malaysian engineer granted ‘Freedom of the City of London’, a rare and prestigious honour that underscores his international contributions to engineering and leadership.
Through his think tank, the Research Institute for Sustainable Excellence and Leadership (RISEL), Hong champions Malaysia’s transition toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESG standards, and net-zero emissions, offering impactful policy recommendations to foster a sustainable future.
