KAPIT (Dec 27): The community-based rehabilitation (PPDK) here on Wednesday held a Christmas party for its special needs children and their parents.
The party was sponsored by Kapit Lions Club, whose members were also present.
In thanking the club for the sponsorship, PPDK Kapit management board chairman Stanley Ling said the gathering was to bring festive cheer to the children.
“We always organise such gatherings during festive occasions including Chinese New Year, Hari Raya and Gawai, involving not just the children but their parents and our staff.
“As we don’t have allocations to hold such activities, we rely on contributions from non-governmental organisations to cover expenses. In this regard, I would like to thank Kapit Lions Club for sponsoring today’s Christmas party,” he said.
Ling added the club members had helped to prepare food for the party and gifts for the children.
The PPDK is under the Kapit Welfare office, which funds its operation.
During the party, the children performed dances and also sang for the guests.
Among those present were Kapit Welfare office Jimat Kanchin, Kapit Lions Club president Angeline Ngie and community leader Penghulu Jenny Yu.
