BINTULU (March 8): A 25-year-old Indonesian national suffered burns on his face after the van he was travelling in caught fire here today.
In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the injured victim was sent to Bintulu Hospital via the Bomba Emergency Medical Rescue Service vehicle.
It said a distress call was received at 8.43am and firefighters were deployed to the scene.
“Upon their arrival, they found the fire involved a gasoline tank carried inside a van belonging to a subcontracting electrical wiring company.
“A small fire was present on the door of the driver’s side and passenger’s side. Only one victim sustained burns on the face due to the incident,” it said.
After extinguishing the fire and ensuring the area was safe, firefighters ended the operation at 9am.
