MIRI (March 28): Police arrested a man at Permy Technology Park here yesterday evening on suspicion of housebreaking and theft.
Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrest of the man in his thirties.
“Acting on information received, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department conducting Ops Pintu successfully arrested a man suspected of involvement in the case.
“The suspect was apprehended at approximately 5.45pm yesterday by the roadside at Lorong 6A, Permy Technology Park,” he said.
The suspect was later brought to Miri Central police station for further action.
Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
The Section provides for imprisonment that may extend to 14 years upon conviction, and for every second or subsequent offence shall be liable to a fine or caning.
He urged the public with any information on burglary cases to come forward and assist with the investigation.
