MIRI (April 10): The Magistrates’ Court here today sentenced a man to one year in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing five pairs of shoes.
Magistrate Ashok Linggam ordered Donald Ramos Taji, 24, of Canada Hill to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest on April 6, 2025.
The accused was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
He committed the offence at a lot in Polar Garden Phase 2C, Jalan Maigold, Senadin at around 4.09am on April 6.
ASP Mary Ong prosecuted, while Donald was unrepresented by legal counsel.
