KUCHING (April 17): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Ministry of Economy have agreed to set up a special task force to monitor the implementation of ministry-approved projects at the state and district levels.
In a statement, the MACC said the task force will serve as a platform for the exchange of information between the commission and the ministry, particularly regarding the allocation of funds to each state and district.
The task force will also conduct random inspections and initiate investigations into any suspected cases of corruption, abuse of power, or misappropriation related to project execution.
Additionally, it will examine weaknesses in existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and propose improvements to enhance governance in budgeting, fund disbursement, monitoring, and implementation processes.
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki welcomed the initiative and praised Economy Minister Dato’ Seri Rafizi Ramli for his proactive stance and commitment to transparency.
“The minister’s seriousness and willingness to cooperate is commendable and should serve as a benchmark for other ministries and agencies,” said Azam.
