KUCHING (April 26): Pewaris, the youth wing of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), is ramping up efforts to empower and engage young Sarawakians through a series of grassroots dialogues called Ruai Pewaris, said Chairman Nicholas Kudi Jantai.
Nicholas explained that Ruai Pewaris is a platform for young voices within the party to exchange ideas, raise concerns, and strengthen unity among members aged 18 to 28.
“This programme is more or less like a Jelajah Pewaris (Pewaris Tour).
“We’ve already started with the northern region in Limbang and Lawas, and we are planning to continue in June after Gawai, starting in Bintulu,” he told reporters when met after the PRS Supreme Council meeting here yesterday.
Nicholas revealed that Pewaris currently has five active divisions in Batu Danau, Bukit Kota, Pelagus, Murum, and Baleh, and aims to establish more.
A division, he said, can only be officially formed when it has at least 50 members, a target the team is actively working toward.

Deputy Chairman Vionie Zenith Grep also shared her perspective on Pewaris’ development, noting that while movement had been slow at times due to work commitments, efforts have not ceased.
“For example, we already held a Ruai Pewaris in Batu Danau and received very good feedback from the youth. About 150 registered during that programme, and we are currently processing 100 new applications,” she said.
She emphasised her role in promoting awareness about Pewaris and encouraging youth participation.
“I help the chairman run the club and explain what Pewaris is about, what it means and how it benefits young people in the party,” she said.
Pewaris currently has 22 individuals in its main committee and is preparing more outreach efforts in the coming months to build its presence across the state.
