Cathlyenn Santa Liong Siu Zhen
LIMBANG (May 8): Police have confirmed that private college student Cathlyenn Santa Liong Siu Zhen, who was reported missing by her family, is currently in London, England.
Limbang police chief Supt Parum Niot said the 24-year-old had boarded a flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last Saturday.
“She was recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV) at KLIA before flying to London.
“We are trying to get help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Malaysian Embassy in London to track her down,” he told the media today.
However, Parum said police are unable to confirm the whereabouts of Cathlyenn’s friend Muhamad Izzat Asnawai 21, who is believed to have travelled with her to Kuala Lumpur.
The ‘disappearance’ of Cathlyenn and Muhamad Izzat went viral last week, with their families lodging police reports amid fears they had become job scam victims.
The pair was last spotted in the Horizon Suites area in Selangor last Saturday and was unable to be contacted since 10pm that day.
Earlier today, Cathlyenn’s mother Christina Sigat said her daughter had left without the family’s knowledge.
“I am worried about her safety, and afraid that she has followed a dubious employment agent,” she told reporters.
Meanwhile, Parum advised youths to exercise caution when accepting job offers abroad that offer high salaries.
“Always consult with the police or relevant agencies about the legitimacy of employment agents offering high-paying jobs overseas,” he said.
