One injured, two others unharmed after pickup involved in a single-vehicle crash along Jalan Kanowit-Durin, Kanowit, today.
KANOWIT (May 8): Three men sustained minor injuries after the four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a single-vehicle crash along Jalan Kanowit-Durin, before the Machan junction near here this afternoon.
Zone 4 Sibu Fire and Rescue (Bomba) Chief, Andy Alie, said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.59pm, and a team of six firefighters from the Kanowit Bomba station was immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival at 5.18pm, our team found that the crash involved a four-wheel drive vehicle with three victims inside.
“A 64-year-old man sustained minor injuries with a small wound on his leg and was still inside the vehicle,” he said in a statement today.
According to Andy, two other victims including a 49-year-old driver and a 63-year-old rear passenger were unharmed and had managed to exit the vehicle on their own before the firefighters arrived.
Firefighters used the SAVER technique to stabilise the vehicle before safely assisting the victim out without having to use any special rescue equipment, as there were no trapped victims, he added.
The injured victim was later handed over to the ambulance personnel for further treatment at Kanowit Hospital.
The operation was fully concluded by 5.44pm after the team confirmed that there were no other dangers at the scene.
Police and ambulance personnel also assisted in the operation.
