MIRI (July 29): The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Piasau service centre will hold a mobile service programme for Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and Senior Citizen Health Benefits (SCHB) applications on Aug 16 to 17, from 9am-4pm, at the Miri Indoor Stadium.
The programme is a joint effort between SUPP Piasau’s committee, Youth and Women wings and the Sarawak Welfare Department Miri.
The event will facilitate immediate issuance of KGC with a ‘same day application and collection’ service at the venue so applicants can receive their cards on-site upon successful registration.
Sarawakians aged 60 and above who hold MyKad with ‘K’ status are eligible to apply for the Kenyalang Gold Card. To apply, they are advised to bring along photocopies of their MyKad (front and back) and that of their guardian or next-of-kin during the application.
Eligible KGC holders may also apply for the SCHB, which offers up to RM500 in annual medical aid at participating clinics.
The programme’s organising chairman, Miri City Council councillor Kelvin Chia said the event was returning after high public demand, following two similar successful programmes.
“Our branch chairman Datuk Sebastian Ting, who is also Piasau assemblyman and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, wants to ensure applicants receive the best service possible and get their Kenyalang Gold Cards on the spot.
“Therefore, he is working with the welfare department to provide this convenient service to those applying for the KGC and SCHB programme,” he said.
He added that applicants may also register online via the link https://isarawakcare.sarawak.gov.my/apply-now/ and collect their card immediately at the Miri Indoor Stadium.
“For on-site registration, please bring photocopies of the applicant’s and next-of-kin’s (if any) MyKad (front and back),” he reminded.
