KUCHING (Aug 7): Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was today presented with the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) at the Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya.
The 79-year-old state governor received the card from an officer of the Astana Negeri, with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi in attendance to witness the occasion.
The KGC programme is a commendable initiative by the Sarawak government aimed at supporting senior citizens aged 60 and above.
Cardholders are entitled to various benefits, such as discounts and rebates on products offered by vendors who are strategic partners of the state government.
According to a statement from the Astana Negeri, the KGC serves as a “token of appreciation from the Sarawak government for the contributions of senior citizens to the state and society.”
The initiative is spearheaded by the state Ministry of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development as part of its broader efforts to enhance the welfare for the elderly population.
