KUCHING (Nov 4): A 61-year-old man who went missing while fishing in Sungai Temenggong, Matang was found dead last night.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim’s son reported that the man had not returned home after leaving to fish around 3am on Monday.
The son said he found the boat around 4pm but there was no sign of his father.
A team from the Petra Jaya fire station went to the scene to gather information and advised the family to lodge a police report.
Search operations could not be carried out due to bad weather and poor visibility.
However, at around 9.10pm, Bomba was informed by the police that the victim had been found by villagers who were fishing not far from where the man’s boat was.
The man was confirmed dead at the scene and his body was brought to the jetty by villagers before being handed over to the police.
