KUCHING (Nov 21): The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in law enforcement is crucial to enhancing the daily operations of auxiliary police, said Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety (General/Community Policing) assistant director DCP Datuk Aida Abdul Hamid.
She said AI technology offers significant potential, particularly in data analysis, identifying criminal behaviour patterns, and improving the effectiveness of crime prevention patrols.
With AI-based monitoring systems, the detection of suspicious activities in specific areas can be carried out more quickly, efficiently and accurately, she added.
“This initiative not only aims at improving community safety but can also help officers and auxiliary police personnel in performing their duties effectively and efficiently.
“The implementation of advanced technology in law enforcement is a strategic step, in line with the government’s efforts to create a law enforcement agency that is responsive and progressive towards security issues in this increasingly complex and challenging era,” she said during the the Basic Auxiliary Police Course Series 7/2025 at Pulapol Kuching.
On the course, Aida congratulated all trainees who successfully completed their training and expressed hope that the new auxiliary police personnel would uphold discipline, integrity and strong commitment, ensuring the auxiliary police remain relevant and continue to support the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
A total of 267 personnel from 22 companies, including KTS Group of Companies, completed the course, which ran from Sept 21 to Nov 21.
